Description
Aji Charapita is the most expensive chili pepper in the world! In case you are interested in trying it, we have it available in small quantities as they are quite hard to produce and harvest. Luckily, this means that the price is quite approachable, and you can give it a try for not too much money. This chili pepper is native to Peru, but in recent years has seen its popularity greatly increase in the United States, as well as many other countries around the world. With a scoville rating of somewhere around 30 to 40,000, these are somewhat comparable to cayenne or Thai chilis in terms of heat. In terms of flavor, they are pretty fruity, with tropical notes. When they are in season, we have lenty of regular customers come to buy them fresh at our chile stand here in Albuquerque. Unfortunately, as the season has come to an end, all we have available are these dried .5 oz bags. One or two in a recipe goes a long way to add some spiciness and flavor, so a half ounce goes farther than you would think!
